Meet the Govenors
Some of our newer parents may not have had a chance yet to meet our school governors.
The Governing Body is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the school. There are 12 members, all of whom are volunteers. Seven are ‘foundation governors’ appointed by the diocese, two are elected as parent governors, there are two teacher governors (one head teacher) and one appointed by Kent County Council.
You are likely to see governors out and about and at school events, but they would also like to introduce themselves to you in our newsletter.
First up is Jo O’Driscoll. Jo was originally elected as a parent governor and now stands as a foundation governor. She sits on the Finance and Premises Committee and on the SESC committee, which is responsible for issues such as curriculum, teaching and learning and safeguarding.
“I joined the governing body when my two daughters were at the school. They are now both in secondary school, but I feel so grateful for the happy, warm and supported start that they received at Colliers Green. I care deeply about the school – I was closely involved in the new build project in 2019/2020, in securing the planning permission for the car park, and in setting up the new(ish) school website. Although my own children have moved on I live very nearby and remain actively involved (you may see one of my daughters helping out at hockey club!).
In my day job I am a communications and PR consultant, working with major charities, businesses and government departments. As well as enhancing communications between the school, parents and the community, I am particularly interested in supporting co-curricular clubs and activities such as sport, art and music."
