What was your favourite subject at school and why?
I particularly liked woodwork!  I really enjoyed making little boxes out of wood, using a plane, a countersunk and a manual drill (it was quite a long time ago!).  We were only allowed to do it for a year and then had to move onto needlework which didn’t quite have the same appeal!

What is your favourite children’s book and why?
This has to be One Hungry Baby by Lucy Coats.  Sadly, I think it is out of print and I’m hoping that I have kept a copy in my loft as this is the story we use to read to our children at night.  It is a bedtime counting book and both of our boys knew that this fabulous counting rhyme really was the last story before ‘lights out’!  I cherish those memories.

What’s your favourite film, music or artist?
I have a diverse taste in music – I enjoy listening to music currently in the charts but also not adverse to bopping away to some country and western and Abba!  I really enjoy musical films such as Mamma Mia (both of them) and The Greatest Showman – great feel good films that leave an impression.

What is your favourite animal and why?
I love dogs however my favourite animal have to be dolphins.  They follow a daily cycle of eating, feeding, exercising and resting – a perfect day (!) however I really love their playful attitude and watching them jumping out of the water, riding waves and interacting with each other.

Which country would you like to visit and why?
A difficult question as I enjoy travelling!  I would really like to travel around Australia in a winnebago!  I have only seen photographs and programmes on TV but it looks like a wonderful country to visit and I do like the idea of travelling around in your own home, albeit temporarily!

If you could live in another period in history when would it be and why?
I would have loved to have lived in the 60s when women started to make a bigger impact on the world and the gender gap started to diminish.  It was also an age of fashion innovation for women where they proudly wore bold colours, mini-skirts and knee-high boots. If I was lucky, I would have driven to my new job, in my bold, patterned clothes and in a brand-new mini which became famous in this decade.

That’s a tricky question! I really enjoyed science because it’s an opportunity to do learning in a more practical way, plus I remember my science teacher doing some great demonstrations and burning different chemicals. I also loved English, because reading is something that I love doing in my spare time, so be able to do it in school too was a real treat!

What is your favourite children’s book and why?
There are lots of children’s books that I love: I have some very tatty and well-loved copies of the Winnie the Pooh books by A.A.Milne that my mum used to read to me. The last children’s book that I read which I thought was excellent is called ‘Tin’ by Padraig Kenny – I highly recommend it!

What is your favourite children’s book and why?
Hairy Maclary’s Rumpus at the Vet. This book was a favourite bedtime story for both of my daughters. The rhyming text, lively illustrations, humour and utter chaos always brought a smile. Even now that my daughters are both grown up something will often spark us off into an impromptu recitation of the story.

What is your favourite animal and why?
