We received the following comment from the Eco-Schools programme, 'Congratulations to everyone for the great work you have managed to do, earning your Green Flag with Merit in style. You should all be very proud of your work and the application you have submitted!'

They were amazed to see beautiful dragonflies(Broad-bodied Chaser) and damselflies (Common Blue) hovering over the pond and once they started pond dipping, they quickly discovered that the water was already teeming with life. They found a selection of microscopic creatures as well as larger specimens such as water beetles and boatmen.

The children also enjoyed searching for mini beasts, and it is apparent that this area is already a haven for wildlife. We can't wait to watch how it develops over the coming years.

Beautiful paths have been created around the area and work to the pond margins has been carried out. The Green Team are excited to start sowing the wildflower meadow and we can’t wait to use this fantastic area with the children.

Putting up bird boxes is also a brilliant way to encourage birds into your garden. If you would like to make your own nest box, check out the advice given by the RSPB or come along and buy one of the extra boxes that were made by the Green Team as part of our fund-raising efforts.
