The Jewel Game

It is my hope that, by the end of Year 1, the children will be able to identify at least five or more trees in Deggs Wood. Each week, the trees have been woven into the narrative of our sessions: saying hello to the big oak tree and his relatives on the way to the woods; tying the hammock to the silver birch tree; identifying the variety of leaves as they were hammering the hapa zome bunting and wax rubbing leaves  and introducing specific vocabulary into our conversation when the children incorporate the trees and leaves in their play. Today we turned leaf ID into a game 'The Jewel Game' or 'Kim's Game'....& it got a big thumbs up from the Speckled Woods.
