Pancakes, Play & Pot of Bubblin' Jam!

Armed with pots of hand-picked blackberries the Speckled Woods headed off to pick some apples from the school orchard for our Forest School jam. As we headed through the fields the children were keen to see if the oak apple was still there from last week...it was. We thought that the acorns were even bigger and we looked at some of the features of the Autumnal hedgerow including the fruits of the dog rose - the rose hip.

Catkin & Bumblebee welcomed us to the woods where the campfire was already lit and ready to start cooking. We were delighted to welcome Bluebell for her first week at Forest School this week. The children helped her learn the three Forest School promises.

The children mixed their own pancake ingredients and watched eagerly as Catkin cooked, then ate them around the campfire drizzled in Rosehip syrup which most agreed was so good that they couldn't resist licking the plate clean!!!

Meanwhile, the blackberries and apples were bubbling away to make our Forest School jam - a pot of which will be making its way home to spread on your toast with your Speckled Woods next Friday!

During child-led learning, the children chose to spread wood-chip, build dens, play houses (complete with make up table, shower, bed and sofa), bug hunt, play hide and seek and venture a little further to Dragon's Drive
