Newsletter no 10 - Week Ending 31st March 2023

Just a quick note to marvel at how quickly this term has gone! It has been a busy one at CG in which I have seen some really lovely learning from all the children, not to mention some fabulous outfits for World Book Day. Many thanks to the PTFA for the pancake races, and today’s Easter egg hunt. Thank you too, to those parent reading volunteers that have got started this term. I hope you all have a lovely but restful couple of weeks off, and we look forward to seeing you at the start of Term 5. I for one am very much hoping for an upturn in the weather soon– or at least a bit less rain! Take care.

Swimming

We are pleased to confirm that Bethany School have allowed us use of their pool for our swimming lessons for this year.    This does mean however that availability of this pool is more limited than if we were to pay for use at a public pool and the fact that there are two bank holidays in May this year.   With this in mind, we will only be able to hold lessons for Class 4 children this year.   Starting with Year 5 children on the 17th April for the first two sessions and then both year groups there after (to avoid SATs).    Transport is also being provided by Benenden School.

Whilst it does mean that we cannot offer lessons to all of Key Stage two children it does mean that the cost of providing lessons is kept to an absolute minimum as these Schools are very generously providing services for us.    With budgets as tight as they are, both for parents and for schools, we do believe that this compromise is one worth taking.

Milkshakes Galore!

A BIG thank you to Mr Gormley and Kitchen of Kent for their very generous donation yesterday of milkshakes and milk to the school.   A special treat for afternoon tea!

Thank you!

REwind

Year 5 attended Hawkhurst church where they were welcomed by the  'REWind to Easter' team. They had opportunity to take part in some craft activities: creating an Easter cross, colouring and planting some cress. They also enjoyed a quiz, competition and learnt more about the importance of Easter to Christians.

PTFA

Thankyou to the PTFA who this afternoon, despite the awful weather, held an Easter Egg hunt for each year group.    Every child will have a lovely egg to enjoy over the holidays!   Thank you

On Tuesday 25th April, the PTFA will hold a uniform sale in the hall after school.    This is an excellent opportunity to stock up on secondhand items, doing your bit for reusing and saving loads of money too!
