Year 6 Fund Raising

On Tuesday 21st June Year 6 children will be hosting mini games at lunchtime to raise money for their end of year treat day.    Games will be 10p a go.    Please can we ask that you send your child in with some coins to support this.

On Friday 24th June they will be holding a bake and boot sale after school.

All monies raised will help our Year 6s fund their day out, a much valued send off for them.  Your support is much appreciated.   Thank you.

Swimming

Unfortunately we have been advised by Bethany School that the pool will not be available to us for the rest of this academic year for our swimming lessons as the heating system has failed.    Use of the pool was provided to us free of charge to keep costs to parents to an absolute minimum and it is such a shame that we have not been able to fulfil our commitment to swimming for Classes 3 and 4 because of issues with staffing and now mechanical problems.

We are already making plans for next year in the hope of avoiding this.

Important Dates

You should have all received a list of important dates for this term.

Can we particularly draw your attention to the Sports Day which is on Wednesday 29th June.

There will be events for Yr R through to Yr 2 in the morning and for Yr 3 through to Yr 6 in the afternoon.  The idea behind this was that parents have the opportunity to see their children individually if split across these key stages, rather than try and split themselves in two for the day!

On this day please send your child into school in their PE kits with house colour T-Shirts.    Please make sure that they have sunscreen pre-applied and plenty of water.

This year we are inviting parents to join their children on this day for a picnic lunch, there will be no school dinners on this day.

As with all sports days we do hope that the weather will stay fine (not too hot!) although please keep an eye out on the day for messages should we need to cancel.    We will ask for a packed lunch regardless of whether the day goes ahead or not as, for obvious reasons, last minute catering is not an option!

Year 3 Cricket

Thank you to Mrs Gibbs and Mrs Brown for organising our Year 3 children to attend a cricket tournament yesterday at Dulwich Prep School.

Mrs Brown commented on how impeccably behaved our children were, that they were very enthusiastic, had a fantastic time and did the school proud.

Term 6

The weather has been particularly warm so please can we take a moment to remind you to send your child into school with a hat and have sunscreen already applied.    We will be making more use of our fabulous field and there is limited shade.

Drumming Workshops

On Tuesday 14th June we were very pleased to welcome World Music Workshops into school for drumming workshops for every class.   Each class played sessions which represented different nationalities including India, China, Brazil and Africa.  We even tried singing a song in an African language to drums which was quite a challenge!

We were so proud of each class for trying so hard and clearly really enjoying themselves.    They really did sound impressive!

Lost Property

We have an extraordinary amount of lost property building up at the moment,  please can we remind you that items cannot be returned to children if there are no names on them!   Even if you just pen the name to the label it will be most helpful and doesn't take more than minutes to do.    We appreciate that uniform items are expensive and we will always return named items to their owners.   We cannot do this if things are unnamed.
