Hockey Superstars!

On the 3rd February seven children from Years 3 and 4 went to Dulwich Prep School with Mrs Brown to take part in a friendly hockey tournament.  They played 10 minutes matches against 6 other local schools and more than held their own, winning 1 match, drawing 3 and losing 2.  It was wonderful to see their sportsmanship, teamwork and commitment as well as their great manners, and it was a real pleasure to see them represent our school so well.   They should be very proud, as we were.

Thank you to Mrs Curley and Mrs Gurr for their help with transporting the children to and from the event and for Mrs Brown for taking time out of class to attend with the children.    Thank you too to Mr Ross from Premier Sport for his help in preparing the team.

Severe Weather

Please make yourself familiar with the procedures in the event of Severe Weather.   Most importantly, please make sure we have the most current contact details and that you have access to Studybugs.   We will use this first and foremost to advise should it be necessary to close the school.    This may be the case also during the course of a school day.   In this case it is important to have a plan in place should your child need to be collected during the day.

It is a good idea to keep an eye on the weather.   Make sure your child is dressed for the weather and make a plan if snow is forecast.

Mug Raffle

Edward in Class 2 is running a 'mug raffle' after school on Friday 11th February to raise some money for the school.

A raffle ticket costs 50p a ticket or three for £1.  Anyone with a winning ticket (ending in "0" or "5") can choose a mug, which will be filled with a small bag of sweets or biscuits.

Thank you to Edward and Mr and Mrs Lloyd for their support!

Safer Internet Day

Tuesday 8th February is the 19th annual Safer Internet Day.

This year the theme is “All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online.”  The children will be learning about how to behave towards people online in order to make the internet a better and safer place for all.

World Book Day

This year is Friday 4th March.  We are asking children in Years R, 1 and 2 to come to school dressed as a character from any Julia Donaldson book and for Years 3,4, 5 and 6 to dress up as any Roald Dahl character.

Both are great authors with lots of ideas to choose from. We hope you will enjoy it.

Thank you !

.. to those parents who helped to spread some woodchip near the carpark entrances and to Magda and Mick for providing us with yet more woodchip!

Rest assured we are looking for a longer term solution.  We did instruct some works to be done in November and we are still waiting for the contractors to come back to us!

Mrs Moorhouse

At the end of next week we will 'officially' be saying 'goodbye' to the most fabulous Mrs Moorhouse in her capacity as HLTA in Class 4, but, on a happier note, she will be continuing to come into school to support children with additional tuition in the afternoons. Plus we just can't keep her away from Forest School entirely!  Enormous thanks to Mrs Moorhouse for her many years of hard work and fabulous company!

Forest School

From Friday 25th February Year 3 will have 4 sessions in the woods.    All sessions will now be by Year group with the remaining class members benefiting from targeted year group learning.
