Newsletter 8 - 17th January 2020

Welcome Back and very happy new year to you all.

We hope you all had a special Christmas.

Own Clothes Day - for the Australian Bushfire charities

We are sure you have all heard the terrible stories from Australia about the extraordinary bush fires.

We would like to do our bit to help, with your help!

Please come to school in own clothes on Monday 27th January, the day after Australia Day, with any donation you are able to give.

We will ensure proceeds are directed to the Fire Services and wildlife charities.

Thank you for your support.

Swimming gala

Congratulations to the Year 5/6 swimming team who competed in a gala at Benenden Girls' School this week.

The children were in the 'small schools' category with Frittenden, Rolvenden and Sissinghurst. All the children placed in their individual races and the team came third overall.

Their behaviour and team spirit were a credit to the school - well done all!

Miss Hopkins

Exciting news for Miss Hopkins - she is expecting her first baby at the end of May. We will let you know cover arrangements as soon as they are finalised.

Godly Play

Message from Mr Gillies and Caroline Turvey:

Godly Play has restarted on Thursdays after school in the Ark. All are welcome. Please let the office know if your child is interested.

Attendance Matters

As we venture into a new year we are asking for your support in
Attendance.    It is our aim to have the whole school attendance at 96 %.

Attached to this newsletter is a helpful breakdown of how this equates to days and lessons missed.

We fully appreciate that when children are ill it is necessary to keep them off school and, certainly, in the case of vomiting and diarrhoea, we do ask for 48 hours clear before returning children to school to help prevent the spread of infection.

We are happy to administer medication (please speak to office staff) to encourage children to come to school and 'soldier on' which is an important message, particularly for when they grow up!
